Paranoid Android –one of the most active distributions of the ROM scene that takes its name from a Radiohead song– reaches its "final" condition, which means you'll get an stable release to feed your device with. Final stable state doesn’t mean at all that development has stopped.. It's just you can flash this, and feel safe.
This tutorial explains how to install the Paranoid Android 4.4 ROM on the Google Nexus 4. Do not attempt to use this guide for any other device or you may brick your phone.
Preparation
- Make sure your Nexus 4 is rooted and its custom Recovery (CWM or TWRP) is updated to its latest build.
- Create a NANDROID ROM Backup and make a copy of all your data (including photos, music and other files from your internal storage)
- Enable USB Debugging in Developer Options.
- Charge your phone battery completely (100%) to prevent your device from switch off during the update.
Installation Instructions
- Download the Paranoid Android Final ROM.
- Download Google Apps (Gapps) for Paranoid Android.
- Copy or move both .zip files to the root folder of your internal storage.
- Switch off your Nexus 4 and disconnect it from your USB.
- Boot into Custom Recovery Mode.
- Create a full NANDROID Backup of your current ROM.
- Once the backup is finished, perform a Factory Reset.
- Install the Paranoid Android ROM by choosing the appropiate zip file.
- Repeat the same process to install the Google Apps from its zip file.
- Return to the Recoery main menu and reboot your device normally.
- Your Nexus 4 will boot into Paranoid Android 4.4 Final.
