LG announced the new Optimus L Series II smartphones slightly ahead of this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). With this new series LG hopes to repeat the success of the original L offering(Optimus L3, L5, L7 and L9), with more than 10 million phones sold in the first 10 months.
The new L Series II has the distinct character of the the former but with a more stylish finish, including four new design elements: Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting on the home button.
The L Series II sports high-resolution IPS displays, extended capacity battery and runs on Android Jelly Bean (no excuse to release an update for the previous models, LG). In addition, Dual SIM versions of the Optimus L Series II will be released, enabling customers to deal with both business and personal calls.
Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said:
LG has a history of pushing the envelope when it comes to style and Optimus L Series II builds on this heritage of design innovation. By evolving the sophisticated style and premium features of the original Optimus L Series, its sequel is expected to continue the popularity of the L Series around the world.
The Dual SIM Optimus L7 II will launch in Russia this week. It will include LG’s unique UX features such as QSlide and QuickTranslator. Availability of the Optimus L3 II with 3.2-inch QVGA IPS display and 1,540 mAh battery and the Optimus L5 II with a larger 4.0-inch WVGA display and 1,700mAh battery will be announced at a later date.
