HTC J Butterfly (Android) to disguise as HTC Zenith (WP)

HTC J Butterfly

Some of you may not be aware that HTC announced a new android powered "Super Phone" a few days ago called the J Butterfly which is only going to be available in Japan. The device comes with a 5-inch 1080p "Super LCD 3" display, a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot, NFC, LTE and Bluetooth 4.0.

When HTC CEO Peter Chou declared at the official unveiling of their Windows Phone 8 devices that they will now only be concentrating on bringing "hero" phones to the market, we had a little chuckle to ourself, thinking the man was quite delusional. We like the 8S and 8X but don't think they are what one would call "hero phones." It looks like little Mr Chou wasn't talking a load of cobblers after all. Enter the HTC J Butterfly!

HTC was rumoured to be bringing three Windows Phone 8 devices at launch; the "Rio" which turned out to be the 8S, the "Accord" which is now the 8X and the "Zenith." The Zenith was rumoured to feature an unnamed quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon and a 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display. That might well be the HTC J Butterfly, just with another OS.
